International Recognition for African Innovation

Recognition from respected international institutions reminds us that meaningful innovation can have an impact far beyond national borders. Following the receipt of the International Entrepreneurship Impact Award from the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at the University of Iowa, FreedPer Scientific's Managing Director, Freedom Mukanga, was honoured to receive a personal congratulatory letter from Lisa Shileny, President and CEO of Hills Bank and Trust Company.

While the recognition is deeply appreciated, it also reflects growing international awareness of the importance of strengthening weather and water observation infrastructure across Africa. At FreedPer Scientific, we believe that better environmental observations lead to better decisions—for farmers, educators, researchers, mining companies, disaster risk managers, governments, and communities.

We're proud to spotlight Mr. Freedom Mukanga for his outstanding leadership and dedication as Chair of the Communications Committee of the African Meteorological Society, and for his exceptional contributions to the development and maintenance of the AfMS website and the 2026 Scientific Conference platform. In addition, for his management of newsletters, email communications, social media, and the creation of high-quality visual content that has significantly enhanced the Society’s visibility and engagement across its initiatives.
