It’s been almost a year into this pandemic, does anyone else feel pretty confident with their virtual therapy set up? ✏️✂️📚
What does your virtual therapy set up NEED to have to make it a great session? And as a therapist, what do you want parents to know about virtual therapy?
I have so much fun programming for my kiddos! For most kids virtual = more work to stay focused, so I like to get super creative to keep kids engaged! I want to share with families that they shouldn’t worry about virtual therapy not being as effective, we work on the same skills as in person sessions and as always the big change will ALWAYS happen between sessions! I put in extra effort to make charts, visual schedules, fun games and recommendations for parents afterwards so that we can work as a team to be the most successful ❤️
If you’re a therapist please share your insight in the comments and if you’re a parent ask your questions !!

October is Occupational Therapy Month in Canada! Throughout this month we’ll be posting more blog posts and instagram posts about occupational therapy and how we can be a part of you and your family’s life (kids AND adults!) Thanks to for this first post with a little glance into what Occupational therapy is and what we do!
This is our month to increase awareness and celebrate the profession! To start....let's talk about that fancy word...occupation. Why are we called "occupational" therapists?

Well occupation basically refers to all the things that "occupy" your day. Occupational therapists see daily occupations as tasks and activities that need to do (self-care), want to do (leisure), and have to do (productivity, jobs) each day.

The term and profession primarily emerged out of the World Wars. Physicians and Nurses found that wounded soldiers who were prescribed just right things to do....just right occupations....recovered better and faster in both their physical health and mental health. This applied to soldiers living with shell shock (PTSD) and soldiers recovering from physical injuries.

Fast forward almost 100 years..and we have a really cool profession that believes that your daily occupations bring you health and well-being.
