Only a week late to the game on this one...š
THANK YOU so much to Solana from the HerCampus team for making the time to hear my story and sharing it with your community!
So little of why I do what I do is fun workouts. Itās the advocating for mental health, healthy eating habits, and positive body image. Itās connecting with other people. Itās helping you feel less alone and realizing that your story matters! Itās trying to make even a small dent in the confidence gap, for today and tomorrow. Thatās the stuff that countsšš½
To everyone that supports the SHINE mission, thank you for showing up. Thank you for caring and thank you for sharing. I genuinely have no words to express how grateful I am for you superstarsš
PS. Full article is on the HerCampus website - link in the bio! Let me know if you read it š„° @ University District, Kingston

Iāve seen a bunch of posts today about mental health in support of day (which are AWESOME) and Iāve been racking my brain about how I can contribute without it being performative. Thereās a ton of nice, uplifting, inspirational type posts but somehow making one doesnāt feel right for me right now.
I think in the past few years mental health has become so mainstream that sometimes we say we are doing things in the name of mental health or self care that actually detract from the real problem.
I know are so many of YOU in my community that struggle on a daily basis, and Iām not talking about mental illness. Iām talking about poor mental health - whether itās stress from school, work, the pandemic, being at home all day, social isolation, or uncertainty, we truly are in *unprecedented* times. I know that so many of you put a smile on your face to get through the day but are hurting inside.
From being so anxious you feel like you canāt do anything to feeling too sad or depressed to get out of bed, those things arenāt silly. Thatās REAL. If youāre struggling, I see you. You donāt have to have a mental illness to experience poor mental health.
Now more than ever, understanding, learning about, and talking about mental health is essential.
I may be a little biased because Iām a Fitness Instructor, but exercise is one of the single best contributors to preventative mental health care. Physical health IS mental health. Itās not a short-term game. The day you start making your health your biggest priority is a day that will change your life. If you havenāt already, make today that day. You are worth itš

Happy Birthday Lex! Iām so thankful to have found someone else that puts their whole heart into everything they do, which may or may not cause them to do things last minute and be permanently 3 minutes behindš
I guess itās only fitting I didnāt leave enough time to make this video (mostly because I severely underestimated all the footage we have).
Over the past 7 months Iāve watched you grow as not only a person, but also as a leader! You inspire so many people to the best version of themselves & you do it with positivity, love and grace. I am proud to have you on my team and even prouder to call you one of my best friendsšš½
I wouldāve done ANYTHING to sweat together in the spot today but alas coordinated videos of 21 by flo rida will have to do𤪠Canāt wait to see all the amazing things you do this year & beyond!
All My Love,
Jess
PS. Iām not trying to have a over filtered āfitness accountā. I love sharing my with you all, and that means sometimes youāll have to deal with sappy videos/posts like this š„°
