Low back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek physiotherapy, however, it’s rarely just a “back problem.”
In many cases, recurring low back pain is linked to poor load tolerance, reduced hip mobility, weak core and glute support, or prolonged sitting. When the spine has to compensate for what surrounding joints and muscles aren’t doing, irritation and strain tend to return.
Physiotherapy focuses on restoring movement, improving strength and endurance, and teaching the body how to manage everyday loads.

Cold weather can decrease muscle elasticity and joint mobility, especially when we’re moving less overall. Stiff joints and deconditioned muscles increase the risk of strains, falls, and overuse injuries.
Our go-to winter injury prevention tips:
• Warm up before outdoor activities like shoveling or walking
• Keep joints moving daily to maintain mobility
• Use shorter steps and controlled movements on slippery surfaces
• Strengthen supporting muscles to improve joint stability
Staying active and maintaining strength and mobility during winter is one of the best ways to prevent injury.
